BBC Tournament - Full Report
{ 03-09-03 }
My hand was pretty sore after yesterday's regional event
in New Port Richey, but I decided to bowl anyway at Holiday Springs Lanes, at
12 PM.
The lanes were oiled using larger units of oil then usual for this tournament, making
the scores drop considerably. This can happen at Holiday Springs because they have
a Kegel Sanction Standard lane oil machine, that allows to do this much easier and
much more effectively. I found myself using an Icon 300 drilled leverage with the
pin in, and the mass bias in a strong position, standing on 7 (yes, seven), pointing
8 or 9.
I started out the first game bad, shooting a 165 after 4 opens. The second game I
started to "warm up", and bowled a 200 game, which was good for that condition.
The last game I struggled a little bit and managed a 198. I wound up missing the cut
number for that squad by about 12 or so pins.
Once again, I get off to a slow start, and it costs me. I have got to find a way
to get off to better starts.
This tournament may be my last tournament until the regional tournament in Palm Coast,
at the end of March, which is three weekends away from this report's date. There is
also a UBA classic tournament on the same weekend, which I will definitely be bowling,
if I don't make the cut at the regional. Palm Coast is a little over an hour's drive
away from Satellite Beach, where the UBA tournament is held. Under PBA rule, I am
not allowed to bowl any other tournament that coincides with a PBA tournament, unless
I have been eliminated. So Sunday would be the day that I'd bowl in the UBA classic
tournament.
This also will mark the "dreaded" return of all the National Touring players
to the regional circuit, since the National Tour season has now completed. No more
free checks, boys! :)
Until then I am going to keep on practicing and bowling leagues (sigh - when will
the leagues end??)
